Open Concept Modernist Shaker Kitchen and Great Room

Open Concept Modernist Shaker Kitchen and Great Room

This modernist shaker kitchen and great room invite family gathering and cohesive living

This family wanted to open up the narrow uninviting living space they had nicknamed “the Bowling Alley” to join their kitchen and create a space to cook and enjoy each others’ company. This kitchen and great room are given an open concept design which transforms the narrow and uninviting living space. Once segregated, this single family home illustrates transitional space through connectivity of both kitchen and living area — an ideal social hub.

HOW IT WAS ACHIEVED

Engineered Maple hardwood flooring matched to existing hardwood and creates visual balance with new white cabinetry.

KEY FEATURES

Island is designed to appear as a free-standing piece of furniture. Island’s beverage sink and built-in wine fridge are especially helpful when entertaining. Crown moulding, baseboards, window casings, and white cabinetry with brushed-chrome pulls give updated look while preserving country-casual ambiance.
