THE OBJECTIVE

To create a social hub for the client who views cooking and entertaining as integral parts of his new retirement lifestyle.

HOW IT WAS ACHIEVED

This condo renovation features a 40 sf loft addition. All walls enclosing the cramped kitchen were removed creating a single, open area. To satisfy the need for a stylish eating space, a 13 ft seamless-slab breakfast bar was delivered through the balcony to the penthouse. Special city permitting was required for Genie-lift access via the public laneway. The built-in wine bar allows guests to self serve without disturbing the chef’s workspace — creating a flexible culinary hub and the desired masculine ambiance. This renovation brings industrial design and modernity together for luxury living at The Quay.

KEY FEATURES

River views are revived from the upper level loft heights which enhances the sense of spaciousness. The darkness of the urban breakfast bar strikes a appealing contrast against the acrylic counter prep area. Shades of charcoal, rich black walnut furnishings, and concrete accents anchor a masculine aesthetic through the space.

  • Built-in beverage bar includes accessory drawers and cabinetry.
  • Concrete raised waterfall bar encases tiered, high gloss, gable-end prep area.
  • Single wall convection system with steam oven and 5 element, electric cooktop.
  • 12” x 24” Nera-grey matte porcelain tiles throughout 112 sf kitchen floor area.
  • 5” inch wide, Vintage Black Walnut flooring covers 480 sf of staircase-landing area.
  • Steel hardware accessorize horizontal grain, Knotty Alder flat panel cabinetry.

I love the kitchen and living room renovation on my condo. TQ’s design took my ideas and came up with a better layout and lots of detailing that I would never have thought of. The overall construction quality was great!
