Eclectic Kitchen Infuses Ambiance into Kitsilano Townhouse

Vancouver townhouse renovation included greatroom design and build

This eclectic Vancouver townhouse renovation is designed for clients who enjoy entertaining. They needed their cramped townhouse converted to a free-flowing greatroom. The resulting space allows them to host guests in comfort.

Location
Vancouver, BC

SCOPE
Town House Greatroom

THE OBJECTIVE

Client desired to create an intimate yet free-flowing great room suitable for clients’ frequent entertaining.

HOW IT WAS ACHIEVED

Strata council limited structural expansion ability, so design focused on the best use of space and unique artistic interplay between curves and angles. The relocated kitchen provides room for two chefs, inter-connectivity with seating area, and unobstructed ocean views.

Renovated living room enjoys new city and harbour views. A curved sectional allows multi-function seating use and enhances sophisticated eclectic ambiance of the contemporary Kitsilano neighbourhood.

KEY FEATURES

Maple emerges as the visually unifying theme, flowing from flat-panel, custom millwork through the refinished living room flooring to outside deck and mountains beyond.

Curved, glass-topped eating bar appears to float above countertop, transitioning the angularity of kitchen and stairs with soft lines of living room furniture.

Natural light is dramatically increased by triple windows also cut into deck’s west-facing windscreen wall revealing new outdoor views. Tempered, frosted glass tabletop reflects light from skylight above.
