Upscale Age-in-Place Burnaby Rancher with Feng-Shui Design

TQ Construction is building this Burnaby custom home for a homeowner moving to Canada to be closer to his family. Non-traditional to the style at home in Singapore, the modern man requests a minimalist home with simple, clean, uncomplicated lines.

Some Feng Shui principles are taken into consideration in the layout and placement of rooms;  in addition to the main design goal to inspire peace, serenity, and calm for his family to enjoy. Finding the existing 2 story house on the lot non-salvageable, we begin by designing a Burnaby custom home that will become a tranquil retreat for the entire family. The resulting home is a spacious single level house comforting to his mother. She can now age-in-place in this unconventional family home.

The new Burnaby custom home is a sprawling 3000 square foot 3 bedroom|3 bathroom rancher. The single story house will be topped with a modern metal pitched roof-line. The house will be clad in earth tone cedar siding, stucco, and concrete. The exterior finishes comfortably nestle the home into its over-sized, private, north Burnaby lot. The footprint of the house was moved to centre of the lot; improving privacy in front and rear yards.

New Custom Home - In Construction

The interior design can be described as transitional, with distinctively modern high-gloss and flat-panel features. A 10-foot-wide framed glass wall divides the living area from a mudroom that hides the pet lover’s personal homey touch of a custom built dog shower. The entire home is kept calm with a cohesive colour palate of warm greens, browns, and gold throughout. Consideration to the home’s serenity extended past decor to include the structural soundproofing of an ICF foundation.

The over-sized kitchen boasts lots of modern high-gloss features with gold, marble and black accents. Upscale appliances and lots of custom design tile work keep the home in current design trend. The three-sided fireplace feature can be enjoyed from kitchen, dining room and patio. Floor to ceiling windows at the rear of the home and an indoor-outdoor concept allow a flow between kitchen and back patio. This will increase the enjoyment of a food garden that the avid homeowner looks forward to creating for himself.

A master suite at the front of the house retains the home’s low-maintenance minimalist look while providing a private 2 person luxury experience. Three distinct foyers with dropped- ceiling lighting features add the perception of segregated living quarters to each of the 3 bedrooms; providing comfort and privacy in extended family living. The main foyer boasts a 9-foot-tall, 6-foot-wide, floor-to-ceiling water feature setting the air of calm upon entry of the home.
